Time to speak some grounded spiritual language my friends! I've often through what if our 'effectiveness' and 'worth' wasn't about productivity... but about alignment, integrity and presence?

I've spent nearly three decades inside people’s inner worlds—helping them heal at the level of soul, psyche, and energy. 

With that up my sleeve, I had a go at translating in grounded spiritual speak the highly popular book by Stephen Covey called "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People".

🌿 Habit 1: Choose to Live from Spirit, Not Reaction

(Original Habit:  Be Proactive)

From a spiritual healing perspective, proactivity isn’t about hustling harder—it’s about conscious choice.
It’s the moment you stop reacting from old patterns and choose to respond from your deeper truth.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I responding from my soul or from survival?

  • What would love do here—not fear?


🕊️ Habit 2: Let Your Soul Lead the Way.

(Original Habit: Begin with the End in Mind)

This habit invites you to live on purpose—not autopilot.
It’s about reconnecting with why you’re really here and letting that deeper soul purpose inform your everyday choices.

Try this:

  • Journal your answer to: What is my spirit here to express or embody in this life?

  • Create a soul-aligned mission statement for the next 3 months.


🔥 Habit 3: Honour What Truly Matters.

(Original Habit: Put First Things First)

Instead of prioritising urgency, prioritise truth.
This is where you begin choosing what nourishes you over what depletes you.

Soul-aligned practice:

  • Ask: Is this truly mine to carry?

  • Begin your week by identifying your “soul priorities” (not just your task list).


💗 Habit 4: Choose Mutual Flourishing Over Competition

(Original Habit: Think Win-Win)

You don’t need to shrink so others can shine.
This habit is about shifting from comparison to co-creation, and trusting there’s enough for all of us.

Embodiment tip:

  • Celebrate someone else’s success this week—and notice where it expands you.

  • Where can you invite more collaboration into your life?


👂 Habit 5: Listen from the Heart, Not the Mind

(Original Habit: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood)

Real healing often happens in the silence—when someone feels truly heard.
This habit is about presence over performance.

Practice:

  • In your next conversation, pause before you respond. Just be with the other person.

  • Notice how often you’re listening to understand vs. waiting to reply.


Habit 6: Let Differences Become Alchemy

(Original Habit: Synergise)

We don’t need to agree to create something sacred.
This habit teaches us to honour contrast, allow diverse truths, and co-create from difference.

Soul invitation:

  • Where are you resisting someone’s perspective out of fear or ego?

  • Ask: What’s the medicine in their difference?


🌙 Habit 7: Tend to Your Inner Light

(Original Habit: Sharpen the Saw)

You are the instrument.
If you’re not caring for your nervous system, your energy field, your spirit—you’ll burn out.
This isn’t self-care as indulgence. It’s spiritual hygiene.

Refill your well:

  • What nourishes you at the deepest level—body, mind, and soul?

  • Schedule it like it matters. Because it does.


💫 Closing Reflection

When we view success only through the lens of productivity, we disconnect from the deeper intelligence that wants to move through us.
But when we look at these “habits” through the lens of spirit…
We remember that effectiveness isn’t about doing more.
It’s about living in alignment.
Living on purpose.
Living from the truth of who you are.

And that kind of effectiveness?
It changes everything—from the inside out.
